One of my favorite Far Side cartoons is one where a bunch of guys are sitting around a camp fire and one of the guys asks another to whip out his grand piano (you can see the outline of a grand piano in the guy's back pocket) to play them a tune.
I took piano lessons from age 8 to 15, after which I payed more attention to the guitar. I love both instruments, and can entertain myself for hours on either one ("myself" being the key word in that sentence).
If you had to choose between the two, would you rather play the piano (we're not talking Liszt, here, but you'd be quite good - as good as most of the local piano teachers)
or
the guitar (not Jimi Hendrix or Eric Clapton status, but you'd be able to play most popular songs)?

Piano. Piano. Piano. No question.
I would've thought I would answer piano, but I have always had a hankering to be a guitar playing, hip-singing kinda gal. Plus, I can just get my player-piano repaired and then I can have awesome piano tunes coming from my piano. Goodness knows I can't produce them anymore (as my five year old likes to point out when he gets the chance).
Both. But if I have to choose, I'd much rather keep my dear piano skills than lose them in favor of another instrument, no matter how badly I want to play it.
Piano, for sure. I can play both (barely) and the times I've wished I could play the piano better far outweigh the times I've wished I could play the guitar better.
I play the piano, but I'd love love LOVE a grand piano to play on. I don't sing...so the guitar thing seems, um, dicey at best. Playing the guitar and not singing seems wrongity-wrong-wrong to me.
Mmmm, grand piano...
xox
If we're also talking time warps here and I was between the ages of 14 and 21 then I choose guitar. Guys dig chicks who can play guitar.
Older than 21 (when I got married and stopped caring what guys beside Aaron dig) then I choose piano.
Piano. One day I will finally learn how to play my guitar (at least a few songs), but I wish that right now I could still play the piano like I was able to when I was 12. I was so good (and I can say that, cause now I can hardly play at all...so sad).
Piano. Only if I could be good in secret so I wouldn't have to play in church. ha.
Guitar. A guitar is portable and fun.
piano all the way! really great talent to have...especially for church it would come in handy!
I can play the piano...averagely...and I get that it makes me semi-useful in church realms...but I can't help by feel like the guitar is cooler.
Good would you rather. I guess piano, but I'd love to be able to jam on the guitar like the last 1/3 of hotel california.
Guitar. Have always been a fan of Andres Segovia, Christopher Parkening, and Carlos Montoya
playing guitar was my "in" with my dream woman and helped me get my first date with her. :)
harder to take a piano to the beach, tho that might be just as memorable. and you never need to wineedle the EQ to help you move a guitar into your apt.
